Key Features & Performance Benefits

  • 30mm Front and Rear Lift: Achieves a balanced 30mm lift across both axles for improved ground clearance, approach and departure angles, and room for larger diameter tyres without compromising ride geometry or handling balance.
  • Twin-Tube Nitrogen Gas Technology: Dobinsons twin-tube nitro gas shock absorbers feature larger body diameters (60mm & 51mm), increased bore sizes (35mm & 32mm), and superior oil capacity for reduced shock fade and consistent damping performance even in extreme heat and corrugated outback tracks.
  • Vehicle-Specific Valving: Each shock absorber is custom-valved for the Mitsubishi Triton ML-MN platform, accounting for vehicle weight, suspension geometry, and typical load configurations to deliver a balanced ride on-road while maintaining control off-road and under load.
  • Premium Internal Components: Japanese NOK multi-lip seals prevent oil leakage and contamination, Teflon piston rings ensure smooth operation, double-chromed 18mm hardened rods resist corrosion and wear, and high-quality Fuchs German shock oil maintains viscosity across extreme temperature ranges.
  • Engineered and Tested in Australia: Designed by Dobinsons in-house engineers and subjected to rigorous dyno testing, durability cycling exceeding millions of strokes, and real-world Australian outback validation to ensure performance in blistering heat, dust, corrugations, and heavy load scenarios.
  • Load-Rated Spring Options: Front coil springs and rear leaf springs are available in multiple load ratings to match your constant accessory weight—ensuring correct ride height, optimal damping performance, and avoiding premature wear or harsh ride quality from incorrect spring selection.
  • Enhanced Structural Design: Selected Dobinsons struts feature tube wall thickness up to 3mm (compared to competitor 1.5mm) and single-piece drop-forged lower mounting stems for superior strength, reliability and resistance to bending under extreme load and off-road impacts.
  • Direct Bolt-In Fitment: O.E. replacement design means no cutting, drilling or fabrication required—uses factory mounting points for straightforward installation by experienced DIY enthusiasts or professional workshops.
  • Improved Towing and Payload Capacity: Raised and load-rated springs combined with heavy-duty shock valving significantly improve the Triton's ability to handle heavy payloads, tow caravans and trailers, and carry roof racks, bullbars, winches and rear bars without sagging or bottoming out.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Natural rubber bushings, steel dust covers, and premium surface treatments ensure long service life in harsh Australian environments including coastal salt exposure, red dust, mud, and extreme UV conditions.

Spring Rate Selection Guide

Selecting the correct spring rate is critical for achieving optimal ride quality, correct ride height, and preventing premature wear of suspension components. You must choose springs based on your constant accessory load—the weight that is permanently fitted to your vehicle at all times. Occasional loads such as camping gear, passengers, or towing a trailer should not be included in your spring rate calculation, as selecting overly heavy springs will result in a harsh, uncomfortable ride and may damage other suspension components. Common front constant loads include steel bullbars, winches, upgraded intercoolers, heavy-duty batteries, and roof racks. Rear constant loads typically include steel rear bars, dual spare wheel carriers, long-range fuel tanks, canopies, drawers, and tray-mounted toolboxes. If you're unsure about your total constant load weight, our technical team can help you calculate the correct spring rates for your specific Triton setup.

Installation & Setup

This Dobinsons Nitro Gas Lift Kit is designed for direct bolt-in installation and is suitable for experienced DIY enthusiasts with appropriate tools and safety equipment, or professional 4WD suspension workshops. A full four-wheel alignment is mandatory after installation to ensure correct steering geometry, tyre wear patterns, and handling characteristics. Following installation, a 500km break-in period is recommended to allow springs to settle and bushings to seat properly—ride height and ride quality will improve during this period. Depending on your vehicle's usage, increased lift height, and tyre size, you may also benefit from upgrading to adjustable or heavy-duty control arms to restore castor angle, improve steering feel, and maximise tyre clearance without rubbing during articulation.

Why Choose Dobinsons?

Dobinsons Spring & Suspension has been manufacturing premium 4WD suspension components for over 60 years and exports to more than 40 countries worldwide from their Australian headquarters. Every Dobinsons shock absorber and spring is designed by in-house engineers, tested on state-of-the-art dyno and durability equipment, and validated in real-world Australian outback conditions—from the blistering heat and corrugations of the Simpson Desert to subzero alpine environments. Trusted by recreational tourers, tradespeople, mining operators, and professional off-road racers, Dobinsons products are backed by comprehensive warranty coverage and supported by a national network of authorised dealers and fitment centres. Explore the complete Dobinsons suspension range for leaf springs, coil springs, shock absorbers, and complete lift kits engineered to Australian conditions.

Who Is This For?

Whether you're a tradesperson carrying heavy toolboxes and equipment, a touring enthusiast fitting a canopy and drawers for long-range outback travel, or a family tower needing confidence and control when hauling a caravan or camper trailer, this kit delivers measurable improvements in ground clearance, suspension articulation, and payload management. For Triton owners who regularly carry extreme rear loads or tow at maximum GCM, consider pairing this lift kit with airbag suspension for on-demand load support and fine-tuned ride height adjustment without compromising unloaded ride quality.

FAQs

Yes, this Dobinsons Nitro Gas Lift Kit is specifically engineered for all Mitsubishi Triton ML and MN series models produced between 2006 and 2015. It suits all cab configurations including Single Cab, Club Cab, and Dual Cab variants, as well as both 2WD and 4WD drivetrains. The kit is designed as a direct bolt-in replacement using factory mounting points, so no modifications are required. If you're unsure about your exact model or have a vehicle with unique modifications, our technical team can confirm fitment compatibility before you order.

This Dobinsons Nitro Gas Lift Kit delivers a balanced 30mm (approximately 1.2 inches) of lift at both the front and rear axles. The front lift is achieved through raised coil springs, while the rear lift comes from Dobinsons raised leaf springs. This balanced lift maintains factory rake and steering geometry while providing improved ground clearance, better approach and departure angles, and additional clearance for fitting larger diameter tyres. Actual ride height may vary slightly depending on your selected spring rates and constant accessory load—heavier loads may compress springs slightly more, while lighter configurations may sit marginally higher.

This complete kit includes 2 x Dobinsons Nitro Gas front struts, 2 x front coil springs (30mm lift), 2 x Dobinsons Nitro Gas rear shock absorbers, 2 x raised rear leaf springs (30mm lift), 4 x heavy-duty U-bolts, and 1 x polyurethane bush kit. All necessary hardware for mounting the leaf springs and shocks is provided. The shocks feature twin-tube nitrogen gas design with premium NOK seals, Fuchs oil, and double-chromed rods. You will need to select the appropriate spring rates for front and rear based on your constant accessory weight during the ordering process to ensure correct ride height and optimal performance.

Absolutely—this Dobinsons Nitro Gas Lift Kit significantly improves the Mitsubishi Triton's towing capability and stability when hauling caravans, camper trailers, or heavy tandem trailers. The heavy-duty nitrogen gas shock absorbers feature increased valving and larger oil capacity to control body movement and reduce sway under towing loads. The load-rated rear leaf springs provide additional support to prevent rear-end sag and maintain correct towball weight distribution. It's critical to select the correct spring rate based on your constant rear accessories (not including the trailer weight itself). For ultimate towing control and the ability to fine-tune rear ride height with varying trailer loads, consider adding airbag suspension as a supplementary system.

While not mandatory, upgrading to adjustable or heavy-duty aftermarket control arms is highly recommended when fitting this 30mm lift kit to your Triton ML-MN. Lifting the vehicle alters the suspension geometry, particularly castor angle and ball joint operating angles, which can affect steering feel, tyre wear, and suspension articulation. Adjustable control arms allow you to restore or improve castor angle for better high-speed stability and self-centering steering, while also providing additional clearance for larger tyres during full suspension compression and steering lock. If you plan to fit tyres larger than 31 inches or frequently use your Triton off-road with full articulation, upgraded control arms will maximise performance and longevity of your suspension system.

Yes, a full four-wheel alignment is absolutely mandatory after installing this lift kit. Changing suspension height and replacing springs and shock absorbers will alter your vehicle's camber, castor, and toe settings, which directly affect steering feel, tyre wear, handling stability, and braking performance. A qualified suspension or alignment specialist should perform a comprehensive alignment to manufacturer specifications (adjusted for lift height) once the kit is fully installed and the vehicle is at normal ride height with typical load. Failure to align your vehicle after suspension modifications can result in premature and uneven tyre wear, poor steering response, and compromised safety. Most reputable 4WD workshops include alignment as part of their lift kit installation service.

Yes, and it's essential that you do. During the ordering process, you must select the correct front and rear spring rates based on your vehicle's constant accessory load—the permanent weight of accessories fitted to your Triton at all times. Front constant loads include items like steel bullbars, winches, upgraded intercoolers, and heavy-duty batteries. Rear constant loads include steel rear bars, dual spare wheel carriers, canopies, drawer systems, long-range fuel tanks, and tray-mounted toolboxes. Do not include occasional loads like camping gear, passengers, or trailer weight, as selecting overly heavy springs will result in a harsh ride and may damage other suspension components. If you're unsure about your total accessory weight, contact our technical team for assistance in calculating the correct spring rates for your specific setup.

With a 30mm lift from this Dobinsons kit, most Mitsubishi Triton ML-MN models can accommodate tyres up to approximately 31 to 32 inches in diameter (265/75R16 or 265/70R17 depending on your wheel size) without rubbing during normal driving and moderate off-road articulation. Actual tyre clearance depends on your wheel offset, tyre width, suspension articulation, and whether you've trimmed inner guards or fitted aftermarket control arms. If you plan to run larger tyres such as 33 inches or wider, you may need additional modifications including guard trimming, offset wheels, diff drops, or extended control arms to prevent contact with guards, chassis rails, or suspension components at full lock and compression. Always test-fit and check clearance through full steering lock and suspension travel before committing to a specific tyre size.

Dobinsons Spring & Suspension stands behind their products with a comprehensive manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The specific warranty period varies by component—shock absorbers and struts typically carry a 12-month or 20,000km warranty (whichever occurs first), while springs are usually covered for 24 months or 40,000km. Warranty coverage requires professional installation, proof of purchase, and adherence to recommended service intervals and load ratings. The warranty does not cover damage caused by incorrect spring rate selection, overloading beyond GVM/GCM, accident damage, or use in competitive motorsport. For complete warranty terms and conditions, refer to the documentation included with your kit or contact our team. All Dobinsons products sold through 4WD Suspension Australia are genuine Australian-delivered stock with full warranty support.

Yes, this Dobinsons Nitro Gas Lift Kit is engineered to deliver a balanced ride quality that's suitable for daily commuting, highway touring, and off-road adventuring. Unlike budget lift kits that compromise on-road comfort for off-road capability, Dobinsons twin-tube nitrogen gas shocks feature vehicle-specific valving that provides controlled damping for comfortable highway cruising while still offering the performance needed for corrugated tracks, steep descents, and articulated terrain. The load-rated springs (when correctly selected for your constant accessory weight) maintain compliance and comfort on sealed roads while providing additional support under load. During the initial 500km break-in period, ride quality will improve as springs settle and bushings seat properly. If you've selected the correct spring rates and have the vehicle professionally aligned after installation, you should experience a noticeable improvement in ride quality, handling stability, and load-carrying capability compared to worn factory suspension.

Proper upgrade for the work Triton

By: Duncan F on 10 June 2026
Been running this Dobinsons lift kit on my MN Triton for about six months now, mainly loaded up with tools during the week and the odd beach trip on weekends. The ride quality is heaps better than the old setup, doesn't sag under weight anymore and handles the corrugated dirt roads out to sites without beating me up. Well worth the money for a daily driver that actually works for a living.

Perfect Upgrade for Our Family Triton

By: Jenny Q on 9 June 2026
Finally got around to fitting this Dobinsons nitro gas lift kit to our MN Triton and the difference is night and day. We do monthly camping trips up the coast and into the high country, and the ride quality loaded up with the camper trailer, kids' gear, and recovery equipment is so much better than the old setup. Installation was straightforward enough for a weekend job, and the height is spot-on for our needs without going overboard.
