Features

Key Features & Performance Benefits

  • 50-76mm (2-3″) Lift Height: Engineered to deliver optimal clearance for larger tyres, improved approach angles, and enhanced off-road capability while maintaining on-road stability and comfort for daily driving.
  • 3-Way Damping Adjustment: Independent control over high-speed compression, low-speed compression, and rebound damping allows you to fine-tune ride quality for towing, touring with heavy loads, or aggressive off-road conditions without compromising comfort.
  • Monotube Remote Reservoir (MRA) Technology: Race-proven monotube design with 50mm extra-large bore and remote oil reservoir increases oil capacity and surface area, dramatically reducing shock fade and maintaining consistent damping performance during extended off-road use.
  • Advanced Sealing System: 3-stage FKM-HNBR shaft seal mechanism combined with reduced operational friction extends service life, minimizes wear, and ensures reliable performance in harsh Australian outback conditions including dust, mud, and extreme temperatures.
  • 6063 Honed Aluminum Reservoir: Precision-engineered aluminum reservoir with lightweight floating piston and Carbon Fibre/PTFE/Disulphide composite wear band reduces friction, distributes heat evenly, and allows operation at lower gas pressures for improved ride compliance.
  • Pre-Assembled with Matched Coil Springs: Complete strut assemblies arrive ready to install with Dobinsons coil springs matched to your specified constant load requirements, eliminating guesswork and ensuring optimal spring-to-shock valving balance.
  • Australian Engineered & Tested: Developed and proven across Australia's harshest terrain including the Simpson Desert, Cape York, and Gibb River Road — tested under real-world touring, towing, and extreme off-road conditions.
  • Superior On-Road Comfort: Low-friction design and precise damping adjustment deliver a noticeable improvement in ride quality compared to twin-tube designs, reducing harshness over corrugations while maintaining body control during highway towing and cornering.
  • Enhanced Off-Road Control: High-speed compression adjustment manages rapid shaft movements over rocks, ruts, and whoops, while low-speed compression controls pitch, dive, and wheel traction for confident control in technical terrain.
  • Towing & Payload Performance: Increased oil capacity and adjustable compression damping accommodate heavy loads including caravans, camper trailers, and tradesman equipment without compromising ride quality or bottoming out — pair with airbag suspension for maximum load versatility.
  • Corrosion-Resistant Construction: Hard-chromed piston rods and anodized aluminum components resist corrosion from saltwater beach driving and coastal conditions, ensuring long service life across diverse Australian environments.
  • Rapid Field Adjustment: External compression and rebound adjustment knobs allow on-the-fly tuning without disassembly — switch between comfort-focused touring settings and firm off-road settings in seconds.

Spring Rate Selection Guide

Selecting the correct spring rate is critical for optimal ride quality, vehicle control, and component longevity. When ordering, specify only your current constant load — the combined weight of permanently installed accessories including bull bars, winches, roof racks, canopies, drawer systems, long-range fuel tanks, dual batteries, and communications equipment. Do not include occasional loads such as camping gear, tools, or towing — these intermittent weights should not influence spring selection as oversized springs result in harsh ride quality and accelerated wear on bushings, ball joints, and other suspension components. Common front accessories affecting spring selection include steel bull bars (30-50kg), winches (30-40kg), steel replacement bumpers, upgraded intercoolers, and auxiliary lighting, while rear constant loads include canopies, tub liners, dual battery systems, and permanently mounted storage solutions.

Installation & Setup

Professional installation by qualified automotive technicians is strongly recommended for this complete strut assembly, as proper fitment requires specialized spring compressor tools, torque specifications, and safety procedures. After installation, a full four-wheel alignment is mandatory to restore factory geometry and prevent premature tyre wear — adjustable upper control arms may be required to achieve correct caster and camber angles depending on final ride height. Allow a 500km break-in period for springs to settle and shock absorber seals to bed in before making final damping adjustments or measuring installed lift height. Start with middle adjustment settings (clicks counted from full soft) and fine-tune based on your specific load and terrain preferences — refer to the included setup guide for baseline recommendations.

Why Choose Dobinsons?

Dobinsons has been engineering world-class 4WD suspension in Australia since 1953, with every product subjected to punishing real-world testing across the continent's harshest environments from red dust outback tracks to coastal saltwater exposure. The complete Dobinsons suspension range is trusted by professional tourers, tradespeople, mining operators, and emergency services throughout Australia and internationally, backed by comprehensive warranty coverage and a network of authorized dealers. Dobinsons' race heritage in off-road motorsport directly informs their production shock technology, delivering competition-proven performance and durability to everyday touring and working vehicles.

Who Is This For?

This MRA adjustable strut kit is ideal for serious tourers covering long distances with heavy expedition gear, tradespeople running constant accessory loads who demand both comfort and capability, and enthusiast off-roaders who want professional-grade adjustability for varying terrain and load conditions. Caravan and camper trailer towers will appreciate the precise compression damping control that manages payload and tow-ball weight without compromising ride quality, while those carrying maximum GVM loads should consider supplementary airbag suspension systems for additional load support and level adjustment capability. Weekend warriors and daily drivers seeking maximum versatility will benefit from the ability to quickly adjust damping characteristics between commute comfort and weekend adventure performance.

FAQs

These Dobinsons MRA Adjustable Front Struts are specifically engineered for Nissan Navara NP300 (D23) models from 2015 to current with coil rear suspension configuration. This includes ST, ST-X, and other NP300 variants across all engine options including the 2.3L twin-turbo diesel. The struts are designed as direct OEM replacements with no modifications required to factory mounting points. To confirm exact fitment for your specific build date and variant, check the NP300 parts finder or contact our team with your VIN number.

This Dobinsons MRA front strut kit delivers 50-76mm (2-3 inches) of lift height at the front of your Navara NP300 when combined with appropriately rated coil springs. Final installed lift height varies based on your selected spring rate, constant accessory load weight, and rear suspension configuration. The 2-3 inch lift range provides excellent clearance for 32-33 inch tyres while maintaining factory-like ride quality and on-road handling characteristics. For balanced vehicle stance, this front kit should be paired with corresponding rear suspension upgrades matched to your specific model and load requirements.

This complete kit includes two fully pre-assembled Dobinsons MRA Adjustable Front Struts with 50mm monotube remote reservoir shock absorbers already mounted to Dobinsons coil springs matched to your specified load rating. Each strut features the remote reservoir unit with 3-way adjustment knobs, high-pressure nitrogen gas charge, advanced sealing systems, and all necessary mounting hardware for strut installation. The kit arrives ready to install with adjustment tools and setup guide included. Additional components such as extended brake lines, upper control arms, wheel alignment, and other suspension components are sold separately and may be required depending on your vehicle's configuration.

Yes, the Dobinsons MRA Adjustable Struts are exceptionally well-suited for towing applications thanks to their 3-way damping adjustment capability and increased oil capacity. The adjustable low-speed compression damping allows you to firm up the front end when carrying tow-ball weight, reducing dive under braking and maintaining level vehicle stance. The monotube remote reservoir design resists shock fade during extended highway towing, maintaining consistent damping performance even in high-temperature conditions. For maximum towing versatility with heavy caravans or camper trailers, consider pairing these front struts with rear airbag suspension for independent adjustment of both front and rear ride height and load support.

Upper control arms are not included in this kit and may be required depending on your desired final lift height and alignment specifications. At 2-3 inches of front lift, many NP300 Navara builds benefit from adjustable upper control arms to restore correct camber and caster angles, prevent premature tyre wear, and maintain proper steering geometry. Factory control arms may provide sufficient adjustment range for conservative lift heights with careful alignment work, but adjustable aftermarket arms offer greater flexibility for fine-tuning and accommodating various load conditions. Consult with your installer or contact our suspension experts to determine if control arm upgrades are necessary for your specific build and intended use.

A full four-wheel alignment is absolutely mandatory after installing this lift kit to ensure safe handling, prevent premature tyre wear, and restore proper steering geometry. Lifting the front suspension alters camber, caster, and toe settings beyond factory specifications, which can cause uneven tyre wear, wandering steering, and compromised braking performance if not corrected. Professional alignment should be performed after the initial 500km break-in period when springs have fully settled to their final ride height. Your alignment technician should reference Dobinsons' recommended specifications for lifted vehicles, and may need to install adjustable upper control arms if factory adjustment range is insufficient to achieve correct angles.

Yes, Dobinsons offers multiple spring rate options to match your specific constant accessory load, and selecting the correct rate is critical for optimal performance and ride quality. During checkout, you'll specify your front constant load based on permanently installed accessories including bull bars, winches, roof racks, and other fixed equipment. Do not include occasional loads such as camping gear or towing weight in your calculation, as oversized springs result in harsh ride quality and accelerated wear on suspension components. If you're unsure about your constant load or which spring rate to select, contact our team before ordering — we can calculate your load based on your accessory list and recommend the appropriate spring specification.

This 2-3 inch front lift kit provides clearance for 32-33 inch tyres on the Navara NP300 with standard offset wheels, though exact tyre fitment depends on tyre width, wheel offset, and whether you install aftermarket guards or perform minor trimming. Some NP300 variants may require minor plastic guard liner trimming to prevent rubbing at full lock with wider tyre profiles. For 33+ inch tyres, you may need to consider wheel spacers, different offset wheels, or additional guard modifications. Remember that larger tyres affect gearing, speedometer accuracy, braking performance, and may require recalibration of traction control systems — always verify legal requirements for your state regarding tyre size modifications.

Dobinsons provides comprehensive warranty coverage on all MRA Adjustable Struts and coil springs, protecting against manufacturing defects and premature failure under normal operating conditions. Warranty terms vary by component and application, with shock absorbers typically covered for defects in materials and workmanship when installed and maintained according to manufacturer specifications. Warranty coverage requires professional installation, appropriate spring rate selection, and regular maintenance including periodic inspection of mounting hardware and seal condition. For specific warranty duration and coverage details, refer to the documentation included with your kit or contact 4WD Suspension Australia for detailed warranty information and registration procedures.

Absolutely — the Dobinsons MRA Adjustable Struts are specifically engineered to deliver exceptional daily driving comfort while maintaining serious off-road capability. The low-friction monotube design with adjustable damping allows you to dial in soft, compliant settings for daily commuting and highway touring, then quickly adjust to firmer settings for off-road adventures or heavy towing. Unlike budget lift kits that compromise on-road manners for off-road capability, the MRA's 3-way adjustment system gives you the best of both worlds. Many Navara owners run these struts in moderate settings for daily use and only firm them up when heading bush or towing heavy loads, making this an ideal choice for vehicles that see mixed-use duty.

Massive Improvement for Our Loaded Family Rig

By: Matt S on 10 June 2026
Fitted these Dobinsons adjustable struts to our NP300 before our last Cape York trip and the difference is night and day. With the roof tent, jerry cans, and all the family camping gear loaded up, the front end used to sag terribly, but these have sorted that out completely. The adjustable damping is brilliant too – ran them on the softer setting for corrugated tracks and firmed them up for the bitumen run home. Best money I've spent on the Navara in years.

Best upgrade I've made to the Navara

By: Rachel M on 10 June 2026
Been running these Dobinsons adjustable struts on my NP300 for about 6 months now, hauling tools and materials daily plus weekend trips down the Cape. The ride quality is night and day compared to stock - actually comfortable loaded up and the adjustable damping means I can dial it in depending on what I'm carrying. Worth every cent and they handle the corrugations way better than I expected.

Proper Kit for Serious Remote Touring

By: Mel S on 9 June 2026
Been running these Dobinsons MRA adjustable struts on my D23 for about 8 months now, covering some pretty harsh Outback tracks including the Canning and Cape York. The 3-way damping adjustment is genuinely useful – can set them firm for corrugations and softer for rock work, which makes a real difference on multi-day trips. Build quality is exactly what you need for remote work, and the ride improvement over stock with a loaded canopy is night and day.

Perfect Upgrade for Our Family Adventure Rig

By: Chris H on 8 June 2026
Fitted these Dobinsons adjustable struts to my NP300 before our last Cape York trip and the difference was night and day. The ride quality with a loaded rooftop tent and camping gear is so much more controlled now, especially on corrugated tracks. Really impressed with how easy the damping adjustment is – been tweaking it between highway cruising and rougher tracks without any dramas.
