Tough Dog steering dampers for the Toyota LandCruiser 60/61/62 Series (11/1980-1990), 70 Series Bundera (11/1984-1991) and 75 Series (11/1984-1999) - all use the same damper. Pick the heavy-duty replacement (EXT5001), Return-to-Centre (SS5001-P/S) or the 9-stage adjustable SV9 (SV5001).
Larger tyres and corrugated roads feed constant kickback into the steering. A quality damper takes the sting out of it and calms the wheel shake that rough surfaces set off.
The heavy-duty EXT replacement runs a 35mm bore with Tough Dog's foam cell insert to resist fade. The Return-to-Centre version adds a self-centring action that helps the steering settle straight and reduces shimmy on rough surfaces, and the SV9 gives you 9-stage adjustable damping to match tyre size and driving.
One honest note: a damper controls kickback – it doesn't fix a steering wobble caused by worn bushes, bearings or a tired panhard. If you've got a shake that comes on at speed, inspect those first; the damper is the finishing touch, not the cure.

Yes – it's one of the simpler suspension jobs: two mounting points, basic hand tools, and no alignment needed afterwards. While you're under there, check the condition of the tie rod ends and steering bushes, since a worn joint will wear out a new damper's benefit quickly.
