Tough Dog adjustable front panhard rod for the Toyota LandCruiser 78/79 Series - recentre the front axle after lifting. Pick the 6 cylinder rod (TDPR-079) or the V8 & 2.8L 09/2016-onwards rod (TDPR-006). V8 models up to 08/2016 use the TDPR-015 rod.
Lift a live-axle vehicle and the axle no longer sits centred under the body – the factory panhard rod is a fixed length, so as the body rises it pulls the axle across to one side. You'll notice one tyre sitting closer to the guard than the other, and the vehicle tracking slightly crab-wise. The higher the lift, the more pronounced it gets; most people fit an adjustable rod from around 50mm of lift.
Tough Dog bend theirs from a single solid bar for strength, and the adjustable design covers a broad range of lift heights. Installation is bolt-in through the factory mounting points – set the final length with the vehicle sitting on its wheels at ride height, not hanging on a hoist, because the geometry changes as the suspension droops.

As a rule of thumb: from around 50mm of lift the axle offset becomes noticeable – one tyre sits closer to its guard and the vehicle tracks slightly off-centre. Below that it's optional; above it, recentring the axle is part of doing the lift properly. Set the final length with the vehicle on its wheels at ride height.
