Features

Key Features & Performance Benefits

  • Delivers up to 2" of front lift over standard ride height, opening clearance for larger tyres and bash plates.
  • Foam Cell shock technology packs a firm foam insert inside the pressure tube to stop oil aeration and fade on corrugations and long descents.
  • Strut body and coil spring are pre-assembled at the factory, removing the need to compress springs on the bench during fitment.
  • Spring rate options — Standard, 0-50kg and 50-100kg constant load — let you match the front end to a bull bar, winch or driving light bar.
  • Twin-tube shock design with a chrome-plated shaft and valving tuned for both sealed-road comfort and off-road control.
  • Reduces harshness over corrugated roads while keeping steering response predictable at highway speed.
  • Lifts front-end load capacity for touring setups carrying a winch bar, long-range fuel tank or driving lights.
  • Nitrile seals and dust boots protect the shock shaft from dust and water crossings common on Australian tracks.
  • Pairs with our coil spring range or a rear leaf spring upgrade for a matched front-to-rear lift.

Spring Rate Selection Guide

Pick your front spring rate based on what's permanently bolted to the front of the Triton — a steel bull bar, driving lights and a winch add real constant weight that a Standard spring wasn't designed to carry. The 0-50kg option suits a bull bar with lights, while the 50-100kg rate is for a bull bar, winch and driving light combination. If you're unsure of your accessory weight, our team can help you match the rate before you order.

Installation & Setup

These are pre-assembled coilover struts, so fitment is a bolt-in job for an experienced DIY installer or your usual workshop — no spring compressor is needed on the bench. Wheel alignment is mandatory after fitting to bring caster and camber back into spec at the new ride height. Allow a 500km bed-in period for the Foam Cell shocks and springs to settle before final assessment. For correct front-end geometry at 2" of lift, pair this kit with upgraded control arms.

Why Choose Toughdog?

Toughdog has built its name on Foam Cell shock technology developed and tested for Australian conditions, from corrugated outback roads to daily commuter driving. Every strut in this kit is backed by Toughdog's manufacturer warranty and supported by our local fitment team if you have compatibility questions. Tourers and tradespeople running the Triton MQ, MR, ML and MN choose Toughdog for a direct bolt-in upgrade without custom fabrication — view the full Toughdog range for matching rear components.

Who Is This For?

This kit suits Triton owners carrying a bull bar, winch or driving lights who need the front spring rate to match that constant weight, plus tourers wanting a 2" lift for extra front clearance. Tradespeople and caravan towers running a heavier front-end setup should also consider airbag suspension for the rear if load varies trip to trip.

In stock in Australia and ready for fast dispatch, with our team on hand to confirm spring rate and fitment for your MQ, MR, ML or MN Triton. Browse our full lift kit range to build a matched front and rear setup.

FAQs

These Toughdog Front Assembled Struts are built for the Triton ML (2006-2009), MN (2009-2015), MQ (2015-2019) and MR (2019-on). Fitment is direct bolt-in for these series, replacing the factory front strut assembly. If you're unsure which series your Triton is, check your compliance plate or use our parts finder for the Triton. Our team can also confirm compatibility if you provide your build date and VIN.

This strut kit delivers up to 2" of front lift over standard ride height, depending on the spring rate selected and your vehicle's accessory load. A Triton fitted with a heavy bull bar and winch will sit slightly lower than one with no front accessories on the same spring rate. We recommend matching your spring rate to your actual front-end weight to get the intended lift height. Our team can help you pick the right option before you order.

The kit includes two Toughdog Foam Cell front struts with the coil spring already assembled to the shock body, plus upper strut mounts and dust boots. Mounting hardware for a direct bolt-in fitment is included. Lower control arms and steering components are not part of this kit and are sold separately. See the Kit Includes list above for the full component breakdown.

Yes, front struts play a role in towing stability by supporting the nose weight added by a bull bar, winch or towball download transferred forward under braking. Selecting the 50-100kg spring rate helps the front end carry accessory weight without sagging when towing. For rear-end load under towing, we'd also recommend reviewing our leaf spring options or airbag suspension for the Triton's rear axle. Talk to our team about a front and rear combination suited to your trailer weight.

At up to 2" of front lift, factory control arms can run into altered geometry that affects camber and CV joint angles. Upgraded control arms correct this geometry and are worth fitting alongside this strut kit, particularly if you're running the higher end of the lift range. It's not always mandatory at lower lift heights, but it's the more thorough fix. Our team can advise based on your exact ride height target.

Yes, wheel alignment is mandatory after installing these front struts. Changing ride height alters caster and camber angles, and an alignment brings these back within factory tolerance. Skipping this step leads to uneven tyre wear and can affect steering feel. Book your alignment straight after fitment, ideally with the same workshop that installs the struts.

Yes, this kit is available with Standard, 0-50kg and 50-100kg front spring rate options to suit your accessory load. Choose Standard if you're running no front accessories, 0-50kg for a bull bar with lights, or 50-100kg for a bull bar, winch and driving light combination. Selecting the correct rate keeps your front ride height and handling as intended. Contact our team if you're not sure which rate matches your setup.

The extra front clearance from up to 2" of lift typically allows for a modest tyre size increase over standard, though exact clearance depends on your Triton's series, wheel offset and whether you've trimmed the guards. We recommend discussing your target tyre size with our team before ordering so we can flag any clearance issues specific to your MQ, MR, ML or MN. Rear clearance should also be checked against your chosen rear spring or leaf setup.

This kit is backed by Toughdog's manufacturer warranty, covering the front struts against manufacturing defects. Full warranty terms are provided with your order documentation. If you ever have a warranty query, our Australian-based team handles claims directly and can talk you through the process. Keep your proof of purchase and fitment date on file for any future claim.

Yes, Toughdog's Foam Cell shock technology is tuned to control both sealed-road comfort and off-road performance, so the Triton remains comfortable for daily commuting and school runs. Selecting the Standard spring rate if you're not carrying front accessories keeps the ride closer to factory feel. The 500km bed-in period will also settle the ride before you judge day-to-day comfort. Many owners run this kit as their everyday setup while still getting the lift benefit for weekend touring.
