Description

The Toughdog Rear Adjustable Panhard Rod is a direct-fit replacement for the 105 Series Toyota Landcruiser (1998-2007), built to correct rear axle offset after fitting a suspension lift kit. Fully adjustable in length, it repositions the rear axle centrally under the chassis, removing the sideways pull that causes body-to-tyre contact and uneven wear. Heavy-duty rod ends and a solid bar handle the constant lateral load on-road and off-road, including towing. In stock in Australia now, backed by Toughdog's manufacturer warranty and our fitment support team.

Kit Includes

  • 1 x Toughdog Heavy-Duty Adjustable Panhard Rod (Rear)
  • High-tensile steel construction with corrosion-resistant coating
  • Fully adjustable length mechanism with locking collar
  • Heavy-duty polyurethane bushings installed
  • All necessary mounting hardware and fasteners
  • Installation instructions included

Features

Key Features & Performance Benefits

  • Fully adjustable length lets you set the rear axle back to centre for lift heights from stock up to a 3" lift without buying a fixed-length rod for every lift height.
  • Corrects the lateral axle offset introduced by a 2" or 3" suspension lift kit on a live-axle rear end.
  • Heavy-duty solid bar construction handles constant side load from cornering, corrugations and towing without flexing.
  • High-misalignment rod ends at both mounting points allow the axle to articulate through its full travel without binding.
  • Corrosion-resistant finish suited to Australian conditions, including coastal and outback dust exposure.
  • Bolt-in replacement for the factory panhard rod — no cutting or welding required on the 105 Series chassis or axle housing.
  • Pairs with upgraded shock absorbers and coil springs to keep the rear axle tracking straight at ride height.
  • Backed by Toughdog's manufacturer warranty and dispatched from Australian stock.

Spring Rate Selection Guide

This panhard rod doesn't set your ride height — it corrects axle position after you've chosen your rear spring rate. If you're running heavy-duty rear leaf springs or constant-load coil springs for canopies, bullbars or drawer systems, the axle sits slightly higher and further offset, so the adjustable length is essential to bring it back to centre. Common accessories that shift rear ride height and axle position include long-range fuel tanks, dual battery trays, canopies and caravan tow-ball loads.

Installation & Setup

Fitting or adjusting a panhard rod changes a fixed suspension link, so we recommend an experienced installer or 4WD workshop familiar with the 105 Series rear axle. Wheel alignment is mandatory after fitting — the panhard rod adjustment directly affects rear axle centring and tyre wear if left unset. Allow a 500km bushing settle-in period, then recheck the adjustment length and torque on all mounting bolts. These vehicles use a solid front axle on coil springs, located by radius arms and a panhard rod rather than IFS control arms, so geometry correction at lift height comes from caster-correction radius arm bushes or adjustable radius arms plus an adjustable panhard rod.

Why Choose Toughdog?

Toughdog has supplied 4WD suspension components to the Australian market for decades, with rod ends and bushes specified for local corrugations, heat and dust. Every panhard rod is backed by a manufacturer warranty, and our team can confirm the correct adjustment range for your specific lift height before you order. View the full Toughdog range for shocks, springs and steering dampers that suit the 105 Series.

Who Is This For?

This adjustable panhard rod suits 105 Series owners who've fitted a 2" or 3" lift kit and need the rear axle back on centre, including remote-area tourers running heavier rear springs and tradespeople carrying constant tray or canopy loads. If you're running airbag suspension to manage variable payload, this rod keeps the axle tracking straight regardless of load level.

This Toughdog Rear Adjustable Panhard Rod (SKU 9713) is in stock in Australia now, dispatched fast with fitment support from our suspension team. Browse our full lift kit range to plan your next 105 Series upgrade, or contact us to confirm the correct adjustment for your setup.

FAQs

Yes, this Toughdog panhard rod is a direct bolt-in fit for the rear axle of the 105 Series Toyota Landcruiser (1998-2007), covering 1HZ diesel, 1HD-FTE turbo diesel and 1FZ-FE petrol variants. It uses the factory mounting points on the chassis and axle housing, so no cutting or drilling is required. If you're unsure of your exact model or fitment, check our parts finder or contact our team for confirmation before ordering.

This panhard rod doesn't add lift itself — it's an adjustable link that corrects the rear axle's sideways position after you've fitted a 2" or 3" suspension lift kit. Winding the rod to the correct length brings the axle back to centre under the chassis, removing the offset a lift creates. For actual ride height, you'll need a lift kit with raised springs and matched shocks fitted alongside this rod.

You get one Toughdog adjustable panhard rod complete with rod end bushes at both mounting points, mounting hardware and fitment instructions. It's designed as a standalone rear axle alignment component, not a full lift kit. See the Kit Includes list above for the complete breakdown.

Yes, the heavy-duty rod body and rod ends are built to handle the added lateral load a loaded tow rig places on the rear axle, keeping tracking accurate under weight. Combined with correctly rated rear springs for your tow-ball weight, it helps keep the axle centred and tyre wear even while towing.

This vehicle runs a solid front axle on coil springs, located by radius arms and a panhard rod, so there are no upper or lower control arms to upgrade like an IFS vehicle. At around 2" of lift most vehicles run the kit as supplied; taller lifts benefit from caster correction (offset radius arm bushes or adjustable radius arms) to restore steering self-centring, plus an adjustable panhard rod to re-centre the axle. Our team can advise what your lift height and build need.

Yes, wheel alignment is mandatory after installing or adjusting this panhard rod. Because it directly sets the rear axle's lateral position, an incorrect setting causes uneven tyre wear and can pull the vehicle to one side. We recommend a full four-wheel alignment once the rod length is set correctly.

This panhard rod suits any rear spring rate fitted to the 105 Series, from standard-duty to constant-load leaf springs for canopies and touring gear. The adjustable length accommodates the axle position change that comes with a higher spring rate or increased ride height. Talk to our team about matching spring rate to your accessory load before ordering.

Correcting rear axle offset with this panhard rod reduces the risk of tyre rub against the guards or chassis rail that a lift can cause. Whether larger tyres clear depends on your tyre size, lift height and any flares fitted, so results vary by setup. Contact our team and we can talk you through clearance for your specific 105 Series configuration.

This panhard rod is covered by Toughdog's manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects. Keep your proof of purchase from 4WD Suspension Australia for any warranty claims, and contact our team if you have fitment or product concerns after installation.

Yes, correcting rear axle offset with this panhard rod improves daily on-road tracking and steering feel on a lifted 105 Series, since the axle sits centred under the chassis as intended. It doesn't compromise off-road articulation either — the rod end bushes allow full axle travel over rough terrain.
