Lift a live-axle vehicle and the axle no longer sits centred under the body – the factory panhard rod is a fixed length, so as the body rises it pulls the axle across to one side. You'll notice one tyre sitting closer to the guard than the other, and the vehicle tracking slightly crab-wise. The higher the lift, the more pronounced it gets; most people fit an adjustable rod from around 50mm of lift.

A panhard rod doesn't change your spring rate, but getting the axle recentred properly matters more once you've matched your rear coil springs to your accessory load. If you're carrying a rear bar, drawer system, water tank or long-range fuel, choose a firmer rear spring first, then fit this panhard rod to correct the resulting axle offset. The listed price covers both sides – always replace left and right together so the axle is evenly damped and sprung. It's a bolt-in job for a competent home mechanic or any workshop; check bushes, mounts and brake-line slack while everything is apart.
As a rule of thumb: from around 50mm of lift the axle offset becomes noticeable – one tyre sits closer to its guard and the vehicle tracks slightly off-centre. Below that it's optional; above it, recentring the axle is part of doing the lift properly. Set the final length with the vehicle on its wheels at ride height.
