Description

These Toughdog heavy duty front coil springs are built specifically for the Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ (1999-2004) and WG (2005-2010) and are manufactured from high-tensile steel to handle a bullbar, winch and driving lights without sagging. They restore factory front ride height when the vehicle is loaded, or provide a subtle lift of up to 2" over stock height on an unloaded vehicle depending on the spring rate selected. Fitted alongside a matched pair of shock absorbers, they give predictable front-end geometry for touring and light off-road work. Backed by Toughdog's manufacturer warranty, in stock now in Australia with fitment guidance from our team.

Spring Rate Selection Guide

Pick your spring rate based on the constant weight fitted to the front of the vehicle, not just occasional cargo. Common front-end accessories that affect rate selection include steel bullbars, winches, driving light bars and dual battery trays mounted forward of the firewall. If you're unsure which rate suits your setup, our team can match a rate to your listed accessory weight before you order.

Installation & Setup

Fitment is a bolt-in job for an experienced DIY installer with a spring compressor, or a straight workshop job for most 4WD mechanics. Wheel alignment is mandatory after fitting new front coil springs, as ride height and castor angle both change. Allow a 500km bearing-in period before a final alignment check, as springs settle slightly under normal driving. For vehicles running heavier front accessories, pair these springs with control arm upgrades to correct front geometry at the new ride height.

Why Choose Toughdog?

Toughdog has supplied suspension componentry to the Australian 4WD market for decades, with springs and shocks developed and tested locally for Australian roads and loads. Every kit is backed by a manufacturer warranty, and our team can confirm spring rate selection against your accessory list before dispatch. Browse the full Toughdog suspension range for matched shocks, rear springs and control arms for your Grand Cherokee.

Who Is This For?

These springs suit WJ and WG Grand Cherokee owners running a bullbar and winch for touring, or a light bar and driving lights for regular dirt road use. If your front-end load varies significantly — for example swapping a winch bar on and off — airbag suspension may be a better fit for adjustable load support. For a constant, fixed accessory load, a fixed-rate heavy duty spring like this one is the simpler and more cost-effective option.

These Toughdog front coil springs are in stock in Australia and dispatched from local stock, with our team on hand to confirm spring rate and fitment for your WJ or WG before you buy. Browse our full lift kit range if you're planning a complete front and rear suspension upgrade.

FAQs

Yes, these Toughdog front coil springs are manufactured specifically for the Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ (1999-2004) and WG (2005-2010). They use the factory mounting points on both chassis and don't require cutting or drilling. If you're unsure which series you have, check your compliance plate or contact our fitment team with your VIN or build date for confirmation.

These heavy duty front springs restore factory ride height when the vehicle is carrying a bullbar, winch or driving lights, and can provide up to 2" of lift over standard height when fitted to an unloaded vehicle, depending on the spring rate chosen. The actual lift you see depends on how much constant weight sits on the front axle. Our team can help you pick the rate that gets you close to your target height once loaded.

This kit includes 2 x Toughdog heavy duty front coil springs, sold as a pair for the front axle. Rear coil springs, shock absorbers and control arms are not included and are available separately from our coil springs range and shock absorbers range. A manufacturer warranty document is included with the springs.

These front springs are designed to support constant front-end accessory weight such as a bullbar and winch rather than towbar drawbar loads, which primarily affect the rear axle. For towing, we recommend also checking your rear spring rate and considering a matched rear coil or leaf spring upgrade. Our team can advise on a full front and rear combination based on your tow setup.

Control arm upgrades aren't mandatory with these springs but are worth considering if you're also lifting the rear or running the front lift at the higher end of the range. Standard control arms can alter castor angle slightly at raised height, which upgraded arms are designed to correct. See our control arms range for WJ/WG-specific options.

Yes, a wheel alignment is mandatory after fitting new front coil springs, as ride height and castor angle both change with the new springs installed. We recommend an initial alignment shortly after fitting, followed by a final check after a 500km bearing-in period once the springs have settled. Skipping alignment can cause uneven tyre wear.

Yes, Toughdog offers these front coil springs in multiple spring rates to suit different constant accessory loads. Selecting the right rate depends on the combined weight of your bullbar, winch, light bar and any other permanently fitted front-end gear. Contact our team with your accessory list and we'll help match the correct rate before you order.

The additional front clearance from these springs can help larger tyres clear the guards, but actual tyre fitment also depends on your wheel offset, rear lift height and any guard modifications. We recommend checking tyre and wheel combinations with our team before purchasing larger tyres. A rear spring upgrade may also be needed for an even stance front to rear.

These Toughdog front coil springs are covered by the manufacturer's warranty against material and manufacturing defects. Full warranty terms and claim conditions are outlined in the documentation supplied with the springs. Our Australian-based team can assist with warranty claims and fitment questions after purchase.

Yes, these heavy duty springs are designed to maintain predictable on-road handling while supporting the extra weight of front-end accessories fitted for touring or work use. They're a common choice for Grand Cherokee owners who drive daily with a bullbar and winch permanently fitted rather than swapping accessories on and off. For load setups that change regularly, airbag suspension may suit better than a fixed-rate spring.
