Tough Dog front shock absorbers for the coil-sprung Nissan Patrol GQ (Y60) wagon (01/1988 - 1998), sold per pair, for 2" lifted vehicles.
Foam Cell (FC41047) for fade-free touring, the 9-position 40mm Adjustable (BM401047), the big-bore 45mm Adjustable (BMX1047/2 - 50mm lift only), or the 53mm-bore Ralph (TDR1047B) for maximum oil volume.
On a Nissan Patrol GQ & GU the shock absorbers do the hard yards: every corrugation, every pothole, every loaded kilometre goes through them. When they fade, the vehicle floats over undulations and takes longer to settle after each hit.
The Foam Cell is Tough Dog's twin-tube workhorse: a microcellular foam insert takes the place of the usual air gap inside the shock body, so the oil can't foam up as heat builds and the damping stays consistent on long corrugated stretches. The 40mm Adjustable adds 9-stage adjustable valving – run it softer for unloaded around-town driving, then firm it up when the vehicle is loaded for touring, without taking anything apart. The 45mm big-bore Adjustable carries more oil in a larger body with the same 9-stage adjustment, aimed at vehicles that work harder or carry weight more often. The big-bore Ralph is the largest twin-tube in the range – more oil volume and a bigger piston for sustained heavy touring use.
Shocks are sold and fitted as a pair – replacing one side only gives you uneven damping across the axle. While the old ones are off, check the bushes and mounts; hardware that's had years of flex is cheap to do at the same time.

The listed price covers both sides – always replace left and right together so the axle is evenly damped and sprung. It's a bolt-in job for a competent home mechanic or any workshop; check bushes, mounts and brake-line slack while everything is apart.
Yes - the GU (Y61) wagon (12/1997 - 2016) uses the same part numbers at every lift height shown here. On the rear coil listing, GQ and GU Wagon springs are labelled separately - pick the one matching your model.
Pick your lift height first - the second dropdown then shows only the parts made for that height. The 25mm and 2" (50mm) options suit the GQ (Y60); the 3" (75mm) to 6" (150mm) options are the shared GQ & GU (Y61) specification (02/1988 - 2016).
Vehicles lifted 100mm or more need the rear tailshaft flipped 180 degrees (front to back) for cross-member clearance, and castor correction is required - contact us. The 200mm/8" shocks are shocks only; Tough Dog makes no suited coils at that height.
