Description

The Blackhawk Upper Control Arm kit suits the Toyota Landcruiser Prado 120 Series (2002-2009) and restores correct castor and camber geometry on vehicles lifted 2"-3". Each arm arrives with a Roadsafe HD ball joint pre-fitted and OE-style rubber bushes for reduced NVH and long service life. Zinc-plated hardware and a direct bolt-on design mean no cutting or drilling on install day. In stock in Australia with manufacturer warranty and fitment support — check all suspension parts for the Prado 120 using our parts finder.

Kit Includes

  • 2 x Blackhawk UCA's pre-fitted with OE style rubber bushes
  • 2x Roadsafe HD Ball Joints pre-fitted to the control arms
  • 4 x Washers
  • 2 x Blackhawk Ball Joint Dust Caps
  • 2 x Dust Cap sealing O-Rings

Features

Key Features & Performance Benefits

  • Restores correct castor and camber geometry on Prado 120 Series vehicles lifted 2"-3", correcting the angles that shift once ride height is raised.
  • Roadsafe HD ball joints are pre-fitted at the factory, a heavy duty upgrade over the standard Toyota unit, with a greasable design for ongoing lubrication.
  • OE-style rubber pivot bushes are pressed into each arm, keeping noise, vibration and harshness close to standard while allowing the extra range of motion a lift requires.
  • Forged control arm construction handles the extra load and articulation that comes with off-road use, towing and touring.
  • Zinc-plated mounting hardware resists corrosion, relevant for both coastal driving and outback dust and moisture.
  • Direct bolt-on replacement for the factory upper control arm — no cutting, drilling or fabrication required.
  • Works alongside raised coil springs to keep front-end geometry correct at the intended ride height.
  • Reduces uneven front tyre wear caused by incorrect camber angle after a suspension lift.
  • Suitable for daily driving, touring and towing applications on the Prado 120 platform.

Spring Rate Selection Guide

These upper control arms are a geometry-correction component, not a spring, but they work as a set with your front coil springs to set final castor and camber at ride height. If your Prado 120 carries a constant front accessory load — a winch, bull bar or driving light bar — pair this arm with a higher-rated front coil to hold the correct static height and arm angle. Common accessories that affect front spring selection include steel bull bars, winches and long-range light bars; talk to our team about matching spring rate to your accessory load before finalising your order.

Installation & Setup

Fitment is a bolt-on job for an experienced DIY installer with the right tools, though we recommend a qualified 4WD suspension workshop for correct torque and alignment settings. Wheel alignment is mandatory after fitting — camber and castor angles change with the new arm geometry and must be reset to factory or lifted-vehicle specification. Allow a 500km settling period for the rubber bushes before a final alignment check. If you're planning a fuller suspension upgrade, look at pairing this arm with our control arm range for lower arms and matching components.

Why Choose Blackhawk4x4?

Blackhawk4x4 builds suspension components specifically for popular Australian 4WD platforms, including the Prado 120, with pre-fitted Roadsafe HD ball joints as standard on this arm. The brand is used by tourers and tradespeople running lifted Prados that need correct geometry restored rather than just a taller ride. Backed by manufacturer warranty and stocked locally, you can view the Blackhawk4x4 suspension range for other Prado 120 upgrades.

Who Is This For?

This control arm suits Prado 120 owners running a 2"-3" lift kit who need factory-correct camber and castor restored, including tourers fitting heavier front-end accessories and tradies covering high daily kilometres. If you're also carrying constant rear payload — camper trailers, canopies or tools — our airbag suspension range can help level the rear end alongside this front-end geometry fix.

In stock in Australia and dispatched from local stock, with our team on hand to confirm fitment for your specific Prado 120 build. Browse our full lift kit range to plan a complete suspension upgrade around this control arm.

FAQs

Yes, this Blackhawk upper control arm is built for the Toyota Landcruiser Prado 120 Series from 2002 to 2009, covering GRJ120, KDJ120, TRJ120 and RZJ120 chassis codes. It suits the 4.0L V6 petrol, 3.0L turbo diesel and 2.7L petrol variants. If you're unsure of your exact model code, check your compliance plate or use our Prado parts finder. Our team can also confirm fitment before you order.

This upper control arm does not add lift height on its own — it's a geometry-correction component. It's designed to restore correct castor and camber on a Prado 120 that has already been lifted 2" to 3" with coil springs or a lift kit. Running it without a lift is generally unnecessary, since factory geometry is already correct at standard ride height.

The kit includes two Blackhawk upper control arms, one for each side, with Roadsafe HD ball joints pre-fitted at the factory. OE-style rubber pivot bushes and zinc-plated mounting hardware are included, along with grease nipples for ongoing lubrication. Lower control arms, shocks and coil springs are sold separately.

Yes. The forged control arm construction is built to handle the extra load and articulation that comes with towing and touring on a lifted Prado 120. For towing setups, we'd also recommend checking your front coil spring rate is matched to any bull bar or winch weight, since that affects the arm's operating angle.

On a Prado 120 lifted more than roughly 1", the factory upper control arm can bind the ball joint at full droop or compression, and camber/castor will sit outside factory tolerance. This Blackhawk arm is designed with the extended geometry and a Roadsafe HD ball joint to correct that. It's a common pairing with 2"-3" lift kits on this platform.

Yes, wheel alignment is mandatory after installing this control arm. Castor and camber angles change with the new arm geometry and need to be reset by a qualified alignment shop. We recommend a final check after a 500km settling period once the rubber bushes have seated in.

The control arm itself is a single design, but it's commonly paired with a range of front coil spring rates depending on your accessory load. If you're running a bull bar, winch or driving lights, a higher-rated front coil keeps the arm operating at the correct angle. Browse our coil spring range or ask our team for a spring recommendation to suit your build.

Correcting camber and castor with this arm can improve clearance slightly by keeping the tyre sitting straight in the arch, but tyre clearance mainly comes down to your lift height and wheel offset. Combined with a 2"-3" lift, many Prado 120 owners run 33-inch tyres, though flares or trimming may still be needed depending on your wheel width. Talk to our team about your specific tyre and wheel combination.

This Blackhawk Upper Control Arm is covered by Blackhawk4x4's manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects. If an issue arises, our Australian-based team will handle the warranty claim directly with you rather than sending you back to an overseas supplier. Keep your proof of purchase for any warranty claim.

Yes. The OE-style rubber pivot bushes keep noise, vibration and harshness close to standard, so the ride stays comfortable for daily commuting as well as touring and towing. It's a common choice for Prado 120 owners who use their vehicle every day but also want correct geometry after a permanent lift.
