Fitting IMS front dampers to an N80 Hilux is a bolt-in job for an experienced DIY mechanic or any suspension workshop. The front strut assembly comes out to swap the damper, so a spring compressor is needed unless you are fitting pre-assembled struts. Match the damper to the front lift your coil springs deliver. IMS59-50700 is built for up to 2" (45mm) of front lift and IMS59-50574 for up to 3" (75mm), with the longer stroke that height needs. Fitting a 2" damper under a 3" spring limits down travel and can damage the damper, so choose by lift height rather than price.
The threaded spring seat on the strut body lets your installer wind the coil spring perch up or down a limited amount, fine-tuning front ride height after your accessories are fitted. It is a setup adjustment made at fitting time, not a damping adjustment — for external damping control you need the MRA remote reservoir range.
