Front dampers on an N80 Hilux are a bolt-in job for an experienced DIY mechanic or any suspension workshop, typically a couple of hours for the pair. The front strut assembly must be removed to change the damper, so a spring compressor or an assembled strut swap is required. A wheel alignment is recommended after any front suspension work. These dampers are shock absorbers only — coil springs are sold separately.

Yes — part GS59-228 is the Dobinsons front damper for the Toyota Hilux N80 built from 2015 to 11/2025, covering the 2.4L and 2.8L turbo diesel and 4.0L V6 petrol variants. They use the factory mounting points. They do not suit the 2022-on Rogue or GR Sport wide-track models, or the N90 Hilux released 12/2025.
Shock absorbers do not create lift on their own — ride height comes from the coil spring. These dampers are valved and lengthed to work correctly from standard height through to 2" of front lift. If you are running a 3" front lift, choose the IMS or MRA option instead, which is built with the longer stroke for that height.
