The Dobinsons IFP Adjustable Height Lift Kit suits the Isuzu D-Max 2012 to June 2020 and uses internal floating piston (IFP) monotube shock absorbers front and rear for consistent damping and reduced fade under sustained load. Front coilover struts are height-adjustable, working alongside heavy-duty front coil springs and 2" raised rear leaf springs to lift ride height and support heavier GVM setups. Pair it with our upgraded control arms to correct front geometry at ride height. Supplied from Australian stock with manufacturer warranty and fitment support from our suspension specialists.

Choosing the right rear leaf spring setup depends on your constant accessory load, not just occasional towing weight. Add up the weight of a fitted canopy, dual battery tray, drawers, water tanks, bullbar and winch, then talk to our team about matching a spring rate that keeps the rear sitting level under that load. Front coil spring selection follows the same logic, factoring in bullbar and winch weight before the front sag settles.
This kit involves height-adjustable coilover struts and full leaf spring removal, so we recommend an experienced 4WD suspension fitter or workshop rather than a first-time DIY install. A wheel alignment is mandatory after fitting to bring castor and toe back within factory tolerance at the new ride height. Allow a 500km bedding-in period for springs and bushes to settle before fine-tuning the front coilover height. Many D-Max owners also fit control arm upgrades at the same time to correct front geometry and CV angles properly.
Dobinsons designs and valves its shock absorbers and springs specifically for Australian 4WD weights and road conditions, not as a generic import. The IFP monotube range is built with sealed piston assemblies and corrosion-resistant shafts, backed by a manufacturer warranty through 4WD Suspension. It's a brand relied on by tourers and tradespeople who need consistent damping performance under real load, and you can view the full Dobinsons range to compare other kits.
This kit suits D-Max owners running a canopy and drawer system, tradies carrying tools daily, and tourers towing a camper or caravan who need stable rear ride height under load. If you're regularly loading heavier gear and want load-levelling on top of this kit, our airbag suspension options can be added to the rear leaf springs for extra support.

This Dobinsons IFP kit is built for the Isuzu D-Max 4x4 built between 2012 and June 2020, covering Dual Cab, Space Cab and Single Cab variants with the 2.5L and 3.0L turbo diesel engines. If your D-Max was built after June 2020 it uses a different chassis and this kit is not the correct fitment. Check your build date on the compliance plate or contact our team with your VIN to confirm before ordering.
The front uses height-adjustable coilover struts, so front lift is tuneable within the strut's adjustment range rather than a single fixed figure. The rear uses 2" raised leaf springs, giving a set 2" lift at the back once fitted. Actual ride height also depends on vehicle load, so we recommend setting front height with weight already loaded (bullbar, winch, canopy).
Please note that all assembled struts are dispatched at a height based on our experience and the manufacturer’s specifications for the advertised lift. Coil springs and leaf springs are also manufactured according to the advertised height and constant-load rating. Actual vehicle height may vary depending on the vehicle and the weight of fitted accessories. Further adjustment may therefore be required after installation. The installer may use coil spacers or adjust the struts at their discretion to achieve the desired height. We are not responsible for vehicle-specific height variations or any additional adjustments required after installation.
The kit includes 2 front IFP adjustable-height monotube coilover shocks, 2 rear IFP monotube shocks, 2 heavy-duty front coil springs, and 2 rear leaf springs raised 2" with matching U-bolts and centre bolts. Mounting hardware and fitting instructions are included. Upper control arms and steering dampers are not included and are sold separately if required.
Yes, the heavy-duty front coil springs and 2" raised rear leaf springs are designed to support additional constant load such as tow ball weight and rear accessories. The IFP monotube shocks maintain damping consistency under sustained load rather than fading on longer tows. For very heavy tow setups, adding rear airbags gives extra load-levelling on top of the leaf spring lift.
Front control arm upgrades aren't mandatory with this kit but are worth considering at this ride height. Raising the front on adjustable coilovers changes CV joint and control arm angles slightly, and upgraded control arms can correct camber and castor more precisely than factory arms. We stock a range of control arms suited to the D-Max if you want to address this at the same time as fitting the kit.
Yes, a wheel alignment is mandatory after installing this kit. Changing front and rear ride height alters castor, camber and toe from factory settings, and correct alignment protects tyre wear and steering feel. We recommend aligning the vehicle after the 500km bedding-in period once springs and bushes have settled.
Dobinsons offers the front coil springs and rear leaf springs in different constant-load ratings to suit your accessory setup, from a mostly standard tourer through to a fully loaded tray-back with canopy and drawers. Tell our team what's permanently fitted to your D-Max — bullbar, winch, canopy, dual battery, water tanks — and we'll help match the right rate. Getting this right up front avoids rear sag or an overly firm front end.
The 2" rear lift and adjustable front height typically improve clearance enough for a modest tyre size increase over factory, though exact clearance depends on your wheel offset and tyre width. We recommend confirming your target tyre size with our team before ordering so we can flag any rubbing points specific to your D-Max variant. Front adjustable height also lets you fine-tune clearance once tyres are fitted.
This kit is covered by Dobinsons' manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, backed by our support as your Australian supplier. If a shock or spring shows a fault within the warranty period, our team handles the claim directly with Dobinsons on your behalf. Keep your invoice as proof of purchase for any warranty claim.
Yes, the IFP monotube shocks are set up to balance on-road comfort with the load-carrying and off-road capability D-Max owners need, so it isn't a harsh track-only setup. Many owners run this kit as their daily driver while still towing or carrying a canopy on weekends. Front coilover adjustability also lets you dial the ride height back slightly for a softer commuting feel if preferred.
