The Dobinsons Lift Kit for Mazda BT-50 (2006-2011, UN series) pairs adjustable heavy-duty torsion bars with Nitro Gas shock absorbers to give a 2" front and 2" rear lift plus extra load capacity for touring and towing. Vehicle-specific rear leaf springs are rated for constant accessory loads, while the adjustable front torsion bars let you fine-tune ride height without changing shock stroke. This complete 4WD lift kit is set up for Australian roads and tracks — check exact fitment using our Mazda BT-50 parts finder. Backed by a 2-year Dobinsons shock warranty, it's in stock now with Australia-wide dispatch and fitment support from our suspension specialists.

Rear leaf spring rate should be matched to what you carry day-to-day, not just occasionally. Add up the constant weight of a canopy, tool boxes, dual battery tray, drawers, water tanks or a camper trailer tow-ball load before selecting a spring, since an overly stiff spring on a lightly loaded tray rides harsh while an under-rated spring sags under a loaded canopy. Front ride height is fine-tuned separately via the torsion bar adjuster, so accessories like a bull bar or winch are compensated for at that end without changing the shock's working stroke.
Fitting the torsion bars, leaf springs and shocks is a job for a qualified workshop or an experienced DIY fitter with torsion bar adjustment tools, as incorrect preload affects both ride height and CV joint angles. A wheel alignment is mandatory once the kit is fitted and the vehicle is at ride height. Allow around 500km for the leaf springs and shocks to settle before a final alignment check. For correct geometry at the new ride height, consider pairing this kit with upgraded control arms.

This Dobinsons kit is built for the Mazda BT-50 UN series, 2006-2011, covering the WL-C 2.5L turbo diesel, WE-C 3.0L turbo diesel and WL 2.6L petrol variants. It is not designed for the later BT-50 UP/UR series from 2011 onward, which uses a different chassis and suspension layout. If you're unsure which series your ute is, our team can confirm fitment from your rego or VIN using the details on our contact page.
The kit gives a 2" front and 2" rear lift over standard ride height. Front height is set via the adjustable torsion bars, while rear height comes from the fitted Dobinsons leaf springs. Actual ride height can vary slightly depending on accessory weight already fitted to your BT-50.
Please note that all assembled struts are dispatched at a height based on our experience and the manufacturer’s specifications for the advertised lift. Coil springs and leaf springs are also manufactured according to the advertised height and constant-load rating. Actual vehicle height may vary depending on the vehicle and the weight of fitted accessories. Further adjustment may therefore be required after installation. The installer may use coil spacers or adjust the struts at their discretion to achieve the desired height. We are not responsible for vehicle-specific height variations or any additional adjustments required after installation.
You get 2 x Dobinsons Nitro Gas front shocks, 2 x Nitro Gas rear shocks, 2 x adjustable heavy-duty torsion bars, 2 x rear leaf springs, U-bolt kits and greasable shackle bushes. Fitting hardware and instructions are included. Upper and lower control arms are not included and are sold separately if required.
Yes, the rear leaf springs in this kit are rated for constant accessory loads, which suits BT-50 owners towing camper trailers or running a loaded canopy. Choosing the correct leaf spring rate for your typical tow-ball load and payload is important, and our team can help you match this to your setup. The Nitro Gas shocks are matched to the spring rate to control the extra sprung weight.
Control arms are not included in this kit and stock arms will still function at a 2" lift, but upgraded control arms improve CV joint angles and steering geometry at the raised height. This is more relevant for BT-50s running larger tyres or heavier front accessories like a bull bar and winch. Ask our team for a recommendation based on your final ride height.
Yes, a wheel alignment is mandatory after this kit is installed, once the vehicle has settled at its new ride height. This corrects camber, caster and toe that shift when the torsion bars are adjusted and rear springs are changed. Skipping alignment leads to uneven tyre wear.
Dobinsons offers rear leaf springs in different load ratings for the BT-50 to suit light accessories through to full-time camper trailer towing. Front ride height is adjusted independently through the torsion bar preload rather than a separate spring rate. Tell our team what you carry day-to-day and we'll help match the right rear spring to your BT-50.
The 2" front and 2" rear lift from this kit creates extra clearance commonly used to fit larger diameter tyres than what fits under a standard BT-50. Exact tyre size clearance depends on wheel offset, width and whether flares are fitted. Check with our suspension specialists before ordering tyres to confirm rubbing clearance at full steering lock and suspension travel.
Dobinsons Nitro Gas shock absorbers in this kit carry a 2-year manufacturer warranty. Leaf springs and torsion bars are covered under standard Dobinsons component warranty terms against manufacturing defects. Keep your invoice from 4WD Suspension as proof of purchase for any warranty claim.
Yes, this kit is designed to keep a comfortable, factory-like ride unladen while adding the load capacity needed for towing or a loaded tray. Many BT-50 owners run this setup as their daily driver and only notice the improved control once weight is added. Selecting the correct rear leaf spring rate for your typical load keeps the unladen ride from being overly firm.
