Vehicle Compatibility & Fitment

Make Model Series Years Rear Suspension
Nissan Navara NP300 / D23 2015 - Current Rear Coil Spring (NOT Leaf Spring)

Important: This kit is designed exclusively for NP300 Navara models with rear coil spring suspension. If your Navara has rear leaf springs, please see leaf spring kits instead. Not sure which variant you have? Browse all suspension parts for the Nissan Navara NP300 or contact our suspension experts for confirmation. Check our FAQ page for additional fitment guidance.

Spring Rate Selection Guide

Selecting the correct spring rate is critical to achieving optimal ride quality and preventing premature wear to suspension components. Spring rate should be chosen based on constant load only — the accessories and equipment permanently fitted to your vehicle. Do not select spring rates based on occasional loads such as camping gear, luggage, or infrequent towing. Common constant front loads include bull bars, winches, roof racks, upgraded batteries, and long-range fuel tanks. Rear constant loads include canopies, drawer systems, dual spare wheels, rear bars, and permanent toolboxes. Over-springing your Navara (choosing too heavy a spring rate) will result in a harsh, unforgiving ride and may place excessive stress on bushings, ball joints, and other suspension components. If you regularly carry heavy loads or tow but want to maintain comfort when unloaded, consider pairing this lift kit with adjustable airbag suspension for on-demand load support.

Installation & Setup

This Dobinsons Nitro Gas lift kit is a direct bolt-in replacement for factory suspension and can be installed by experienced DIY enthusiasts with appropriate tools, safety equipment, and a suitable workshop space. However, we strongly recommend professional installation by a qualified 4WD suspension specialist to ensure correct fitment, torque specifications, and safety. A full four-wheel alignment is mandatory after installation to prevent uneven tyre wear and ensure safe handling characteristics. A 500-kilometre break-in period is recommended to allow springs to settle and components to bed in — ride height may drop slightly during this period. Depending on your specific NP300 variant and desired lift outcome, you may also need to consider pairing this kit with upgraded control arms, extended brake lines, or a diff drop kit to maintain correct suspension geometry and CV angles.

Why Choose Dobinsons?

Dobinsons Spring & Suspension has been manufacturing world-class suspension components for over 60 years from their Australian headquarters, exporting to more than 40 countries worldwide. Every Dobinsons product is designed, tested, and validated by in-house suspension engineers using state-of-the-art dyno testing and custom-built durability machines that simulate millions of cycles under extreme Australian conditions — from the blistering heat and corrugations of the outback to the subzero environments of international markets. Manufactured to TS16949 International Quality Assurance Systems with CNC-machined components, friction welding, and drop-forged high-stress parts, Dobinsons delivers unmatched reliability for tradespeople, tourers, and serious off-roaders. Explore the full Dobinsons suspension range for matched steering dampers, extended shackles, and heavy-duty bushings.

Who Is This For?

This lift kit is ideal for Nissan Navara NP300 owners who demand more from their vehicle — whether you're a tradesperson carrying tools and equipment daily, a touring enthusiast heading remote with camping gear and recovery equipment, or a weekend warrior tackling beach, desert, and high country terrain. If you regularly tow caravans, camper trailers, or boats, the firmer spring rates and performance-matched damping provide superior rear-end control and reduced squat compared to factory suspension. For those who frequently carry heavy but variable loads, consider pairing this kit with supplementary airbag suspension to fine-tune rear ride height and load support without over-springing your Navara.

FAQs

This kit is designed specifically for Nissan Navara NP300 (D23 series) models from 2015 to current that are fitted with rear coil spring suspension. It will NOT fit NP300 models with rear leaf springs. To confirm your vehicle's rear suspension type, check underneath the rear of your Navara — coil spring models have a large coil spring mounted near each rear wheel, while leaf spring models have multiple flat steel leaves stacked together. If you're unsure, contact our team with your VIN number and we can confirm exact fitment for your vehicle.

This Dobinsons kit provides a 2-inch (approximately 50mm) lift over factory ride height, measured at both front and rear. This lift allows for fitment of tyres up to 32-33 inches in diameter (approximately 265/70R17 to 285/70R17) depending on wheel offset and whether you trim any plastic guards. For maximum tyre clearance during full articulation off-road, you may also want to consider trimming inner guard liners or fitting aftermarket flares. The increased ground clearance also improves approach, departure, and ramp-over angles for better off-road capability.

This complete kit includes 2 x Dobinsons Nitro Gas front struts, 2 x Dobinsons front coil springs (load-rated), 2 x Dobinsons Nitro Gas rear shock absorbers, and 2 x Dobinsons rear coil springs, along with natural rubber bushings and mounting hardware. The kit does NOT include upper control arms, extended brake lines, diff drop components, or steering dampers — these may be required depending on your specific vehicle and intended use. We recommend reviewing your complete suspension needs with a professional installer or contacting our team to ensure you have all necessary components for a safe and complete installation.

Yes, this Dobinsons Nitro Gas lift kit is well-suited for regular towing duties. The firmer spring rates and performance-matched shock absorbers reduce rear-end squat when towing, improving stability, braking performance, and driver confidence. The twin-tube nitro gas technology maintains consistent damping even under the additional weight of a loaded caravan or trailer. However, spring rates should still be selected based on your vehicle's constant accessory load — not the weight of the caravan itself, which is an occasional load. For ultimate towing versatility and comfort, consider adding airbag suspension to fine-tune rear load support when hitched up.

While not always mandatory for a 2-inch lift, upgrading to aftermarket upper control arms is highly recommended to restore correct suspension geometry and caster angle after lifting your Navara NP300. Without adjustable or extended control arms, a lift can push your vehicle's alignment outside of factory specifications, leading to premature tyre wear, steering wander, and reduced handling performance. Extended control arms also help maintain CV joint angles within safe operating limits. We recommend discussing your specific requirements with a qualified suspension specialist during installation planning to determine if control arm upgrades are necessary for your application.

Yes, a full four-wheel alignment is absolutely mandatory after installing any lift kit, including this Dobinsons system. Lifting your vehicle changes suspension geometry, camber, caster, and toe angles — all of which must be reset to manufacturer specifications (or adjusted to suit the new ride height) to ensure safe handling, predictable steering response, and even tyre wear. Skipping the alignment can result in rapid and uneven tyre wear, steering pull, and potentially dangerous handling characteristics. Always have your alignment performed by a qualified technician using a modern alignment machine, and keep a copy of the alignment report for your records.

Spring rate selection should be based exclusively on your vehicle's constant accessory load — the weight of equipment permanently fitted to your Navara. Measure or estimate the combined weight of items like bull bars, winches, roof racks, canopies, drawer systems, dual batteries, and long-range tanks. Do NOT factor in occasional loads like camping gear, tools, or passengers. Choosing a spring rate that is too heavy will result in a harsh, uncomfortable ride and excessive stress on suspension bushings and mounts. If you're unsure, contact our team with a list of your fitted accessories and we can recommend the appropriate spring rate for optimal ride quality and load handling.

Yes, a 2-inch lift typically allows for tyres up to 32-33 inches in diameter (such as 265/70R17, 275/70R17, or 285/70R17) depending on your wheel offset and any minor trimming of inner plastic guards. Wider tyres may require negative offset wheels or extended wheel arch flares to avoid rubbing on the guards during full lock or suspension compression. Keep in mind that fitting larger, heavier tyres can affect speedometer accuracy, fuel economy, braking performance, and gearing — you may also need to recalibrate your speedometer to comply with Australian Design Rules (ADRs). Always test-fit tyres through full steering and suspension travel before committing to a final size.

Dobinsons suspension products are backed by a comprehensive manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty periods vary by component type — shock absorbers and struts typically carry a 2-year / 40,000km warranty, while coil springs are often covered for longer periods. Warranty coverage requires professional installation, correct spring rate selection, and normal use within the product's design limits. Damage caused by incorrect fitment, overloading beyond rated capacity, or off-road impacts is not covered. Always retain your proof of purchase and installation records, and contact us immediately if you experience any issues with your Dobinsons components.

Absolutely. While this Dobinsons Nitro Gas lift kit significantly improves off-road capability, load handling, and towing performance, it is equally well-suited to daily driving on sealed roads. The twin-tube nitro gas design with natural rubber bushings delivers a comfortable, controlled ride for highway commuting and urban use without the harshness often associated with budget lift kits. The vehicle-specific valving is tuned to balance performance with comfort, making this kit ideal for dual-purpose vehicles that see regular sealed-road kilometres as well as weekend touring and off-road adventures. Correct spring rate selection is key to maintaining on-road comfort — always choose based on constant load only.

Perfect upgrade for our family camping rig

By: Sarah K on 10 June 2026
Finally bit the bullet and fitted this Dobinsons 2-inch lift kit to the Navara before our trip down the Victorian High Country, and what a difference it's made. The ride quality is noticeably better than stock, especially when loaded up with the kids' gear and camping equipment. Couldn't be happier with how it handles corrugated dirt roads now – the family actually stays comfortable on those long drives to remote campsites.

Perfect upgrade for my work ute

By: Dave O on 10 June 2026
Been running this Dobinsons 2-inch lift on my NP300 for about six months now, carting tools and materials around Sydney during the week and hitting some tracks on weekends. The ride quality is noticeably better than stock even with a full load in the tray, and the extra clearance has already saved my diff a couple of times on rough sites. Well worth the money for anyone who actually uses their Navara for work.

Proper Kit for Remote Touring

By: Jason C on 9 June 2026
Been running this Dobinsons 2-inch lift on my NP300 for six months now, including a Cape York trip and regular Simpson Desert runs. The ride quality loaded up with gear and water is leagues better than the factory setup, and the nitro gas shocks handle corrugations without that harsh jarring you get with budget lifts. Fitment was spot-on and everything's holding up perfectly in the dust and heat.

Perfect Upgrade for Our Family Adventures

By: Lisa T on 8 June 2026
Fitted this Dobinsons 2-inch lift kit to our NP300 about three months back and it's completely transformed how the Navara handles when we're loaded up with camping gear and the kids' bikes. The ride quality is noticeably smoother on corrugated dirt roads compared to the stock setup, and my wife even commented on how much more comfortable the drive to our usual spot near Bateman's Bay was. Really impressed with how well-engineered these components are for Australian conditions - you can tell they've been properly tested on our rubbish roads.

Perfect upgrade for the Navara

By: Emma L on 8 June 2026
Just fitted the Dobinsons 2-inch lift kit to my NP300 and couldn't be happier with the result. The difference in ride quality is night and day compared to stock, especially when loaded up for trips out bush. Took it through some rough corrugated tracks near Flinders Ranges last month and the kit handled everything beautifully while still being comfortable for daily commuting.
