The Dobinsons Monotube 2" Lift Kit for the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 Series (1999-ON) pairs monotube shock technology with heat-dissipating design for corrugated outback tracks and constant payload work. This 2" lift kit raises the front coil springs and rear leaf springs together, with spring rate options matched to bullbar, winch, tray and canopy weights. Monotube shocks separate oil and gas behind a floating piston, cutting fade on long descents and washboard roads compared with factory twin-tube units. Dispatched from Australian stock with a Dobinsons manufacturer warranty and fitment support from our suspension team.

Choose your spring rate based on the constant weight sitting on the vehicle, not the maximum weight you carry occasionally. Front accessories that add constant load include steel bullbars, winches and dual batteries, while rear load comes from tray/canopy fitouts, long-range fuel tanks, water tanks, drawer systems and slide-on campers. If you're unsure which rate suits your build, tell our team your fitted accessories and we'll match a front and rear spring rate to it.
Fitment should be carried out by an experienced 4WD suspension installer or a competent DIY mechanic with axle-stand and spring-compressor experience. Wheel alignment is mandatory after fitting to bring camber, caster and toe back within spec at the new ride height. Allow a 500km settling period for the leaf spring pack and shock bushes before a final alignment check. On solid-axle 79 Series front ends, check whether extended brake lines or panhard rod adjustment are needed at 2" of lift. The 79 Series locates its solid front axle with radius arms and a panhard rod rather than IFS control arms, and at 2" of lift most vehicles run the kit as supplied, with offset radius arm caster bushes and an adjustable panhard rod available if steering feel changes.
Dobinsons has built 4WD suspension in Australia for decades, with spring and shock tuning done specifically for Australian roads, dirt tracks and vehicle loads rather than adapted from overseas market parts. Every Dobinsons kit we stock carries a manufacturer warranty and is backed by our own fitment support if you have questions before or after you buy.
This kit suits 79 Series owners running a tray or canopy for trade work, tourers fitting long-range tanks and camper setups, and anyone towing regularly who needs the rear spring rate matched to a constant load. If your accessory weight varies trip to trip, it's worth also looking at airbag suspension to fine-tune rear load support on top of your leaf springs.

Yes - this kit fits the Toyota LandCruiser 79 Series from 1999 onward: Single Cab models with the 4.2L 1HZ diesel (1999-ON) or 4.5L 1VD-FTV V8 turbo diesel (2007-ON), and Dual Cab models (2012-ON, V8). Spring and damping rates are selected to suit your accessory load, so confirm your build date and setup with our team, or check compatibility through our parts finder before ordering.
This kit gives a 2" lift front and rear over standard ride height. Lift is achieved through raised coil springs at the front and a raised leaf spring pack at the rear, both matched to the monotube shocks in the kit. Actual ride height on your vehicle will vary slightly depending on accessory weight already fitted.
Please note that all assembled struts are dispatched at a height based on our experience and the manufacturer’s specifications for the advertised lift. Coil springs and leaf springs are also manufactured according to the advertised height and constant-load rating. Actual vehicle height may vary depending on the vehicle and the weight of fitted accessories. Further adjustment may therefore be required after installation. The installer may use coil spacers or adjust the struts at their discretion to achieve the desired height. We are not responsible for vehicle-specific height variations or any additional adjustments required after installation.
The kit includes 2 front and 2 rear Dobinsons monotube shock absorbers, 2 front raised coil springs, 2 rear raised leaf spring packs, a rear U-bolt kit and mounting bushes. Fitting instructions are included. Caster correction components (offset radius arm bushes or adjustable radius arms), an adjustable front panhard rod, extended brake lines and a steering damper are not included and are sold separately.
Yes, when the rear leaf spring rate is matched to your actual towball weight and any canopy or tray load already carried. The monotube rear shocks are designed to hold consistent damping under sustained load rather than fading on long tows. Tell us your typical towing weight and fitted accessories so we can recommend the right rear spring rate.
The 79 Series uses a solid front axle with coil springs, so it doesn't run adjustable upper/lower control arms like an IFS ute. At 2" of lift most owners don't need extra geometry parts, but it's worth checking your panhard rod and brake line length. Our team can point you to compatible caster bushes and adjustable panhard rod options for the 79 Series.
Yes, wheel alignment is mandatory after installing this kit. Ride height changes camber, caster and toe, and correct alignment protects tyre wear and steering feel. We recommend an alignment straight after fitting and a follow-up check after the 500km settling period.
Yes, both the front coil springs and rear leaf spring packs in this kit are available in light, medium and heavy constant-load rates. Choose your rate based on what's permanently fitted — bullbar, winch and dual battery up front, tray, canopy, water tank or camper setup out back. Our team can help match a rate to your accessory list before you order.
A 2" lift on the 79 Series typically opens up clearance for a moderately larger tyre than standard, but exact clearance depends on your wheel offset, tyre width and whether you run flares. We recommend confirming your tyre size against our fitment notes or contacting our team before buying tyres.
This kit carries the Dobinsons manufacturer warranty covering shock absorbers and springs against manufacturing defects. We handle warranty support locally in Australia rather than routing you overseas. Keep your invoice as proof of purchase for any warranty claim.
Yes, the monotube shocks and leaf spring tune are set for a balance of on-road comfort unladen and control once loaded, which suits a dual-purpose daily-driven 79 Series. Ride quality will feel firmer than standard if you select a heavy spring rate without the matching load fitted. Choosing the rate that matches your actual accessory weight keeps the ride comfortable day to day.
Good product
Really happy with this Dobinsons 2" lift kit. It gives the LandCruiser a tougher stance, better clearance, and a much more controlled ride,(5)
