Complete Tough Dog suspension kit for the Nissan Patrol GU Y61 Wagon 1997-2016, front and rear in one package, lifting the vehicle approximately 3" (75mm). Build the kit from the dropdowns below and every component is matched to that height and load.
Tough Dog build suspension for 4WDs only, so the valving and spring rates are set for corrugations, load and heat rather than showroom ride. Once a bull bar, winch, drawers, a long-range tank or a canopy goes on a Patrol the factory suspension sags and runs out of control quickly. This kit puts the ride height and damping back where they should be, and every part in it is the same Tough Dog component we sell individually for the Patrol.
| Component | Tough Dog Part | Qty |
|---|---|---|
| Front shock absorbers | Foam Cell FC41047/3, 40mm Adjustable BM401047/3 or 45mm Adjustable BMX1047/3 | 2 |
| Rear shock absorbers | Foam Cell FC41206/3, 40mm Adjustable BM401206/3 or 45mm Adjustable BMX1206/3 | 2 |
| Front coil springs | TDC734/3 comfort/medium or TDC734/3H constant load, 75mm raised | 2 |
| Rear coil springs | TDC732/3 0-300kg or TDC732/3H constant 300kg, 75mm raised | 2 |
| Castor correction | 3 degree castor correction radius arm bushes | 1 kit |
| Brake hoses | Extended rubber brake hoses - 2, 3 or 4 to suit your brake system | 1 set |
| Optional | Adjustable front and rear panhard rods - TDPR-004 + TDPR-005 (Series 1) or TDPR-012 + TDPR-013 (Series 2 on) | as selected |
Shock configuration. Foam Cell is the standard build - a 41mm bore with Tough Dog's nitrogen-charged foam cell insert that resists fade on long corrugated runs. The 40mm bore Adjustable adds 9-position damping you can set at the base of each shock, and the 45mm big-bore Adjustable is the pick for serious outback touring with more oil volume and the same 9-stage adjustment.
Front spring rate. Comfort/Medium suits a standard front end, an alloy bar or a steel bar without a winch. Constant Load suits a steel bull bar with a winch fitted permanently.
Rear spring rate. 0-300kg suits a wagon with variable loads. Constant 300kg is for a touring fit-out, long-range tank or rear bar that never comes off.
Castor correction. Lifting a radius-arm front end rotates the diff and reduces castor, which makes the steering vague and slow to self-centre. The correction bushes or plates in this kit put castor back where it belongs at the new ride height.
Brake system. Extended rubber brake hoses are included - choose Non ABS (2 hoses), ABS (3 hoses) or Stability Control (4 hoses) to match your Patrol.
Adjustable panhard rods. At 3 inches the axles are pulled sideways on the standard panhard rods. The optional adjustable front and rear rods re-centre both axles under the vehicle - select Series 1 or Series 2 onwards to get the correct chassis-end bush size.
Lift height and the law: suspension lifts above 50mm are regulated differently in each state and territory and may need an engineering certificate or a modification plate. Check your local rules before ordering a kit above 2 inches.

Bolt-in installation with no cutting or welding. A wheel alignment is required after fitting, and the castor correction supplied in the kit must be set during that alignment. Tough Dog require their fitting sheet to be completed at installation to keep the warranty intact. Please note that all shocks, coil springs and leaf springs are supplied to the advertised lift height and constant-load rating. Actual vehicle height may vary with the vehicle, its condition and the weight of fitted accessories, so further adjustment may be required after installation.
Yes - it suits all coil-sprung Nissan Patrol GU Y61 wagons from 12/1997 to 2016, Series 1 through to Series 4, with the TB45E, TB48, TD42, RD28 and ZD30 engines. Select your series in the dropdown so the correct steering and panhard parts are supplied. It does not suit the leaf-rear GU cab chassis, which has its own kit.
Approximately 3 inches (75mm) front and rear. Please note that all shocks, coil springs and leaf springs are supplied to the advertised lift height and constant-load rating. Actual vehicle height may vary with the vehicle, its condition and the weight of fitted accessories, so further adjustment may be required after installation.
They are strongly recommended at 3 inches. The standard rods pull the front and rear axles off-centre as the vehicle rises, which shows up as uneven tyre-to-guard clearance and a crab-walk feel. The adjustable rods let the installer centre both axles. The Series 1 and Series 2 onwards options have different chassis-end bush sizes, so pick your series.
At 75mm of lift the factory hoses can run short at full droop, so the kit includes extended rubber hoses. Choose the option that matches your braking system: 2 hoses for non ABS, 3 for ABS or 4 for stability control models.
Rules differ by state and territory. Many allow up to 50mm without certification, while a 75mm lift may need an engineering certificate or modification plate. Check your local requirements before ordering and we can point you to an engineer if needed.
Yes. The lift changes castor, camber and toe, so book an alignment straight after fitment and have the 3 degree castor bushes set at the same time.
