Description

The Dobinsons Monotube IFP Adjustable Lift Kit suits the Mazda BT50 UP/UR series (2011-2019) and delivers a coilover-adjustable 2" to 3" front lift matched with heavy-duty raised leaf springs at the rear. The 50mm-bore monotube IFP shocks use variable velocity valving to manage damping across small bumps and bigger hits, front and rear, keeping the vehicle settled under load. Front ride height is tuneable at the coilover collar so you can dial in your preferred stance without swapping springs. Backed by a Dobinsons warranty, this kit is in stock now with fast Australia-wide dispatch and fitment support from our team.

Features

Key Features & Performance Benefits

  • Coilover-adjustable front end delivers 2" to 3" of lift from the one kit, set at install or adjusted later without changing springs
  • 50mm-bore monotube shock absorbers front and rear improve heat dissipation over smaller-bore twin-tube designs during sustained corrugated-road driving
  • Variable velocity valving alters damping force depending on shaft speed, giving a firmer response over sharp inputs and a softer response over small, high-frequency bumps
  • Heavy-duty raised rear leaf springs are built for constant accessory loads such as tray bodies, canopies, bullbars and drawer systems
  • Internal floating piston (IFP) design separates oil and gas charge, reducing aeration and fade on long descents or corrugation runs
  • Front coilover height adjustment lets you fine-tune stance to correct for accessory weight without altering spring rate
  • Seals and bushes are selected for Australian conditions, covering dust, water crossings and UV exposure
  • Balances comfortable unladen daily driving with predictable control once GVM payload is on board
  • Improves towing stability by reducing rear sag when a laden trailer or caravan is hitched up

Lift height compliance: Suspension lifts of this size may exceed your state's allowable limit without engineering certification. Check your state's light vehicle modification rules (VSB14/NCOP) before fitting.

Spring Rate Selection Guide

Choose your rear leaf spring rate based on the weight you carry day to day, not just at full GVM. Add up permanently fitted gear such as tray bodies, canopies, toolboxes, bullbars, winches, long-range fuel tanks and drawer systems, then talk to our team about matching that constant load to the correct spring rate before ordering. Under-rating leaves the rear sagging under a canopy and tools; over-rating gives a harsh, unloaded ride, so accuracy here matters more than guessing high.

Installation & Setup

This kit is best fitted by an experienced 4WD suspension installer or a competent DIY mechanic with a workshop hoist, given the coilover height adjustment and leaf spring swap involved. Wheel alignment is mandatory after fitting to reset castor and toe at the new ride height and to protect tyre wear. Allow a 500km bedding-in period for the new leaf springs and shocks to settle before making final height adjustments. If you're running the BT50 loaded or at extreme lift angles, pairing this kit with upgraded control arms keeps CV and suspension angles within a safer working range.

Why Choose Dobinsons?

Dobinsons has built 4WD suspension components in Australia for decades, with monotube IFP shocks tested locally against corrugations, heat and dust rather than lab conditions alone. Every kit is backed by a Dobinsons manufacturer warranty and supported by our in-house fitment team here in Australia. Tradespeople and remote travellers running Dobinsons gear rely on it for consistent damping performance trip after trip — view the full Dobinsons range to compare shock and spring options for your BT50.

Who Is This For?

This kit suits BT50 owners running a tray, canopy or tourer setup who need a rear spring rate matched to constant accessory weight, plus tradespeople carrying tools daily and caravan or camper trailer tow rigs needing reduced rear sag. If your load varies significantly trip to trip, ask our team about airbag suspension to complement the leaf springs for variable-load control.

This Dobinsons Monotube IFP kit is in stock in Australia and ready to dispatch fast. Speak with our fitment specialists about spring rate selection for your BT50, or browse our full lift kit range to compare other options.

FAQs

This Dobinsons Monotube IFP kit is built for the Mazda BT50 UP/UR series sold from 2011 to 2019, covering both the 2.2L and 3.2L turbo diesel variants. It's not designed for the newer BT50 built on the Isuzu D-Max platform from 2020 onward. If you're unsure which generation you have, our team can confirm fitment from your vehicle's build plate or VIN before you order.

The kit gives an adjustable 2" to 3" front lift via the coilover height collar, paired with heavy-duty raised rear leaf springs. You set the front height at install and can revisit it later without changing springs. Actual ride height also depends on the accessory weight fitted to your BT50 at the time of measurement.

Please note that all assembled struts are dispatched at a height based on our experience and the manufacturer’s specifications for the advertised lift. Coil springs and leaf springs are also manufactured according to the advertised height and constant-load rating. Actual vehicle height may vary depending on the vehicle and the weight of fitted accessories. Further adjustment may therefore be required after installation. The installer may use coil spacers or adjust the struts at their discretion to achieve the desired height. We are not responsible for vehicle-specific height variations or any additional adjustments required after installation.

You get 2 front monotube IFP adjustable coilover shocks, 2 rear monotube IFP shocks, a pair of heavy-duty raised rear leaf springs, U-bolt kits, shackles and bushes, plus fitting instructions. Upper and lower control arms are not included and are sold separately if you need them. Full details are listed in the kit contents section on this page.

Yes, the raised rear leaf springs are built for constant accessory loads and help reduce rear sag when a laden trailer or caravan is hitched to your BT50. Choosing the correct spring rate for your typical towing setup is important, so talk to our team about matching rate to your ball weight and existing rear-end accessories. The monotube IFP shocks also help control rear-end movement over uneven surfaces while towing.

Control arms aren't included in this kit and aren't mandatory for a 2" to 3" lift on most BT50 setups, but upgraded units help correct suspension geometry at the top end of the lift range. If you're running close to 3" or carrying heavy front accessories like a winch and bullbar, ask us about matching control arms to your BT50. Our team can advise based on your exact lift height and accessory load.

Yes, wheel alignment is mandatory after installing this kit. Raising the BT50 changes castor and toe angles, and an alignment reset protects tyre wear and keeps steering feel consistent. Book this in with your installer immediately after fitment, before extended driving.

Yes, rear leaf spring rate should be matched to the constant accessory weight on your BT50, such as a tray, canopy, bullbar, winch or long-range tank. Our team can help you select the correct rate before you order so the rear doesn't sag under permanent gear or ride harsh when unloaded. Front height is separately adjustable via the coilover collar regardless of the rear spring rate chosen.

A 2" to 3" lift typically creates clearance for a larger tyre than the BT50's factory fitment, but exact clearance depends on wheel offset, tyre width and whether flares are fitted. We recommend checking your specific tyre size with our team before purchase to confirm rubbing won't occur at full steering lock or suspension compression.

This kit is backed by a Dobinsons manufacturer warranty covering the monotube IFP shocks and leaf springs against manufacturing defects. Our team can confirm the exact warranty terms and handle any warranty claims on your behalf as your Australian point of contact. Keep your proof of purchase and installation date for warranty reference.

Yes, the variable velocity valving in the monotube IFP shocks is tuned to soften response over small, high-frequency bumps typical of daily commuting while still controlling larger inputs when loaded. Many BT50 owners run this kit as their everyday setup, with the added benefit of stable handling when accessories or a trailer are added on weekends. Fitting the correct rear spring rate for your usual load keeps the daily ride comfortable rather than harsh.
