The Dobinsons IMS Monotube Lift Kit for the Mazda BT-50 Dual Cab (09/2020-on) uses monotube shock construction with externally adjustable front damping, delivering a 2" lift front and rear. Raised coil springs and multi-leaf rear springs work with the IMS shocks to hold constant accessory loads — bull bars, winches, canopies and touring gear — while keeping ride quality on formed roads. This kit pairs well with our coil spring range if you need a different front rate for your build. Stocked in Australia with manufacturer warranty and fitment support from our suspension team.

Pick your rear leaf spring rate based on the constant weight you carry — not the odd heavy trip. Common accessories that push you toward a firmer rate include steel canopies, dual battery setups, water tanks, drawer systems and towbar-mounted accessories. Tell our fitment team what's fitted (or planned) on your BT-50 and we'll confirm the right spring rate before you order.
Fitment is a bolt-on job for an experienced 4WD workshop or a confident DIY installer with the right tools and a hoist. Wheel alignment is mandatory after fitting — the 2" lift changes camber and caster, and skipping alignment accelerates tyre wear. Allow a 500km bed-in period for the new springs and shocks to settle before final alignment adjustments. If you're running larger tyres or need corrected CV and control arm geometry at this ride height, pair the kit with upgraded control arms.
Dobinsons has built suspension for Australian and international 4WD conditions for decades, and the IMS monotube range is developed specifically for touring and load-carrying utes like the BT-50. Kits are backed by manufacturer warranty, and 4WD Suspension provides local Australian stock plus fitment support if you need help matching spring rates to your build. See the full Dobinsons range for other BT-50 shock, spring and torsion bar options.
This kit suits tradies running a canopy and tools daily, tourers fitting a rooftop tent and drawers, and owners towing a van who need the rear end to sit level under load. If your accessory load varies trip to trip rather than staying constant, airbag suspension can be added to the rear for adjustable support on top of this kit.

This Dobinsons IMS Monotube kit is built for the Mazda BT-50 Dual Cab, 3rd generation, from 09/2020 onward. It's designed around the factory GVM and mounting points of this model, so no cutting or drilling is needed for a standard install. If you're unsure which generation or variant you have, use our parts finder for the BT-50 or contact our team with your build date.
This kit gives a 2" lift front and rear, achieved with raised coil springs up front and a multi-leaf rear spring pack. The actual ride height also depends on the spring rate fitted and the accessory weight already on the vehicle. Our team can confirm expected ride height for your specific accessory load before you order.
Please note that all assembled struts are dispatched at a height based on our experience and the manufacturer’s specifications for the advertised lift. Coil springs and leaf springs are also manufactured according to the advertised height and constant-load rating. Actual vehicle height may vary depending on the vehicle and the weight of fitted accessories. Further adjustment may therefore be required after installation. The installer may use coil spacers or adjust the struts at their discretion to achieve the desired height. We are not responsible for vehicle-specific height variations or any additional adjustments required after installation.
The kit includes 2 x Dobinsons IMS monotube front shocks with adjustable damping, 2 x monotube rear shocks, 2 x raised coil springs, 2 x multi-leaf rear spring packs, U-bolt kits, bump stop spacers and mounting hardware. Upper control arms are not included and are available separately if you need corrected geometry at ride height. Full details are listed in the kit contents section on this page.
Yes. The multi-leaf rear springs are designed to carry constant loads such as a towbar, water tank or canopy without excessive rear sag. For variable towing loads that change trip to trip, we'd also suggest looking at airbag suspension to add adjustable support on top of the leaf springs.
At a 2" lift, many BT-50 owners run the factory control arms without issue, but CV angles and geometry are worth checking, especially if you're also fitting larger tyres. Upgraded control arms can correct camber and caster more precisely at ride height. Ask our fitment team to review your combination of lift, tyre size and driving use before deciding.
Yes, wheel alignment is mandatory after installing this kit. The 2" lift changes front camber and caster angles, and an alignment corrects this to protect tyre wear and steering feel. We recommend aligning after the suggested 500km bed-in period once springs and shocks have settled.
Yes. Dobinsons offers multiple leaf spring rate options for the BT-50 to suit different constant accessory loads, from a bare tray through to a heavy canopy and dual battery setup. Tell our team what's permanently fitted to your vehicle and we'll recommend the matching rate before you order. Choosing correctly avoids a rear end that sags under normal use or sits too high unladen.
A 2" lift typically creates clearance for a modest tyre size increase over standard, but exact clearance depends on wheel offset, tyre width and whether guard trimming is done. We recommend confirming your target tyre size with our fitment team so we can advise on any additional clearance work needed for your BT-50.
This kit is covered by a Dobinsons manufacturer warranty on the shocks and springs. As an Australian-based supplier, 4WD Suspension handles warranty support locally rather than requiring you to deal with an overseas manufacturer. Contact our team for the exact warranty term applicable to your kit before or after purchase.
Yes. The IMS monotube shocks are tuned for a dual-purpose ride, holding comfort at highway speed while still giving control over rough tracks. Many BT-50 owners run this kit as their everyday setup for work and weekend touring rather than switching between two configurations. The externally adjustable front damping also lets you fine-tune the ride for unladen daily driving versus a loaded trip.
